VITA Latino Pasante

  • The VITA Latino Pasante is a seasonal volunteering position supporting tax preparation, client services, and team organization during tax season. Open to college students and recent graduates of all majors, no Spanish proficiency required.

    After IRS certification, volunteers dedicate a set number of hours helping the Buenas Finanzas team in various roles based on site needs. You’ll gain hands-on experience in IRS-certified tax preparation, client interviewing, and working with diverse communities.

    A stipend is provided at the end of the season, as agreed upon before tax season begins.

    • Prepare taxes for clients after completing IRS certification.

    • Set monthly work hours based on site availability, appointments, and volunteer capacity. Schedules may adjust up to 48 hours before a shift.

    • Complete 90 hours (Advanced) of tax preparation by the end of the season, including quality reviews as needed.

  • • Strong client-facing and teamwork skills.

    • College Student or Recent Graduate.

    • Accounting and finance students are encouraged to apply.

    • No Spanish proficiency required.

    • Help financially vulnerable individuals to obtain access to quality services for free.

    • Develop valuable skills such as Spanish language, tax preparation, client interviewing, etc.

  • • Advanced tax preparer certification from the IRS

    • Proof of current enrollment in college or recent graduation.

    • For advanced certification, complete 90 hours or 65 tax preparations.
